Pallet production automation
Assembling pallets by hand is a slow process, completely dependent on a fluctuating number of human resources. On an average, a skilled resource can assemble a pallet in 4 to 5 minutes, and a stack of 33 pallets in around 2 hours.
Our solution used 2 refurbished robots.
The first robot performed picking and placing operations of pallet parts, feeding them into a nail punching machine. The second robot performed picking and stacking operations, preparing stacks of pallets for further packaging.
One of the leading challenges of the project was working with lower quality pallets with unpredictable measurements and defects. Our engineers developed the solution accordingly, taking in consideration larger product measurement tolerances.
Our robotics solution resulted in significantly reduced pallet production time. On an average, one pallet would be produced in 40seconds, and a stack of 33 pallets in ±22minutes.
The solution allowed the company to save on resources and run their operations for prolonged periods of time, maximizing results and revenue.
